I 'discovered' in BMW's DVD 'Repair and Service Data' that ONLY for the R1200GS(K25), R1200RT(K26), R1200ST and R1200S a special notice (is mentioned saying that 'engine start is not enabled if you pull the clutch with a gear engaged BEFORE switching on the ignition' (side stand in of course). Please see the attachments. After that notice, the standard function test is described. My RT does not do what that notice says. The RT starts whereas it shouldn't according to BMW. My dealer can't tell me why BMW introduced this 'noticed' in the function test. Strange thing is that this notice is NOT given for the R1200R (nor for the other modern boxers) although it has the same boxer engine as the R1200RT(K26). Finally my questions : anyone know about this ? What's the purpose of what is described in that 'notice' ? Mine starts when it shouldn't but I don't notice anything wrong (except that the engine sometimes stalls when I start moving in 1st gear, but I think there's another reason for that). Thanks for having read the above. If you know something I don't, then please let me know. Frans.
