Tempomat

Hello,

I ride an 2002 LT and the tempomat functions badly. They replaced the switch and the gascables. The dealer told me there was a krack in the Kabelbaum so the tempomat didn't fonction well. After this repair the tempomat fonctionned well for 3 weeks but today again i couldn't engage the tempomat on several occasions. Than the switch responded well and a few minutes later he failed again.What's wrong?

Hello F De Vries,

I had problems too with my tempomat - it didn't work, but BMW fixed it well. If you have garanty, and I think so, you should go to BMW to let them repair it. It might be a little difficult to fix it by yourself. Good luck.

Dear Michael,

Thanks for your swift reply. Tomorrow I'll contact my dealer again. Hopefully they can fix the problem now for good. Althoug they worked on my bike for a week the failure appeared again. It's most sytrangely that at times the tempomat works well and then suddenly I can't engage him anymore.So, after several driving kilometers I sometimes succeed in activating him. After the first repair the mecanics told me they only found the problem after hours of searching and replacing several items. They than discoverd a crack in the wyering and fixed it. I have the impression the problem is the same as the phenomenon is identical.

Also, ich hab zu Beginn der Saison auch Probleme mit dem Tempomat gehabt. Er speicherte nicht die Geschwindigkeit, - war nicht aktiv. Durch leichtes Wackeln am Hauptschalter konnte man die Aktivierung (rote Lampe) erreichen.

Die BMW Leute wußten auch nicht weiter, sagten Garantie, und bestellten einen kompletten neuen Satz. Da ich aber keine guten Erfahrung mit zuviel Schraubereien habe, probierte ich selbst weiter.

Ich schalte jetzt den Hauptschalter ab und an aus, und seitdem (3Monate, 8000km) funktioniert der Tempomat einwandfrei.
