Need help on “kupplung” diagnose?

#1 Beitrag von Lars MA »

14.000 km - no more clutch!

Clutch works fine to use stopping etc. 1. 2, gear feels more or less normal. Running in 3,4,5,6 gears hitting the throttle, from slow driving the clutch is running along, like it is at the point of were out.

The clutch was changed under warranty, leaking oil from sealing ruined the clutch, at 7.000 km. and the bike has now 21.000 km. on the clock, that’s only 14.000 km. on this clutch.

How can one wear out a clutch in 14.000 km :?: I do not drive with the clutch engaged!

The 1. question - could it be something else than wear of the clutch :?:

Checking the fluid in the clutch reservoir. Bike on centre stand, steering all the way to the right it shows too much clutch fluid in the reservoir, the fluid line should be in the middle of the little window but its all the way to the top :?:

The 2. question - is there something the mechanic could have done wrong when he last time changed the clutch, causing excessive wear :?:

Will be very happy to hear some answers.

Sorry  I am not good writing in German but I read/understand, so you can answer in German.

Thanks!

Clutch problems...

#2 Beitrag von Mathias Grosse »

Hi to Denmark!
There is a good chance that the clutch was damaged by leaking motor oil, like reported several times before in the discussion group.
Check the oil use...
Then there was some reporting about clutches breaking apart by the BMW branch in Hamburg; I found that installing the third motor after 54.000km.
A third part of the surface was simply gone...
See pics at http://www.bmw-k1200rs.de -.
The only chance is to open the whole thing and have a view.
May be you have a warranty by the first tie installer.
Good luck from Hamurg...
